As planned, I went to the Huntington Library members only night on Friday. What a wonderful evening, with a delightful surprise twist.
I've been looking foward to this for weeks. A few hours at the Huntington is always special, but these theme evenings are a cut above even that.
I arrived a little early and parked. I noticed the parking lot was packed - this was a little more popular than I expected! Ah well.
As I locked up the car and turned to go into the complex, I thought I heard my voice. Naw, I don't know anyone here. I turned, and heard it again. Hmmm. This seemed directed towards me.
Indeed, it was my deceased wife's cousin Lucy and her husband! As it turns out, he's been reading my blog and read about my planned trip! They came over to the Huntington two weeks ago, joined and came up with their evil plot to surprise me!
This changed the evening entirely, and it was a wonderful time. We wandered all over the complex, starting from the rose garden, over to the Japanese garden, down to the Australian section, ate some food, then went down to the desert garden.
Also, I got to experiment with my new camera (the squirrel was taken with it), a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5, and it's wonderful.
All in all, a very nice evening with a couple of friends.
