The Big Bear faire is this weekend (the 12th and 13th) and I am really looking forward to attending. I like this faire. It's small, but it sure has lots of entertainment scheduled:
* Poxy Boggards
* Belles of Bedlam
* Merry Misfits of Doom
* Adam Reid – "The Bawdy Juggler"
* Tribe Roman Morga
* Merry Wives of Windsor
* Knot It Players
* Bradley Austin the Storyteller
* The Naughty Stitchers
* Interactive Children’s Performances
* Fractured Fairytales
* Moonridge Zoo Presents
* Clan Dummunhull Gypsy Magic Show
* Lord Rusty Comic Variety
* Marlowe's Shadowe
* The Imperial Knights
I'll be attending both Satuday and Sunday, and quite possibly at least one day the following weekend. And I'll be going as a member of Oojam!!! No, I won't be belly dancing, but I will be their photographer. It's quite an honor for me.
Next to Irwindale, this is probably my favorite faire of all.
It took some doing, but I managed to find a room up their for Saturday evening. I'll be staying at the Three Pines Lodge, which is less than a five minute drive from the faire. So on Friday I'll put my dog Hades in the kennel for the weekend, then drive up for two days of fun!
(oh yeah, for anyone going, I believe route 30 is closed. You'll need to take route 18 or 38 - I'd recommend 38 over 18 anyday.)

Although both 38 and 18 are coming up the backway into Big Bear, so that you drive the scenic route around the lake. Plan on a lovely drive up through Forest Falls, Angelus Oaks, and points upward.

I grew up in San Bernardino and we visited the mountains all of the time via all the routes except 38. I lived in Lake Arrowhard from 1974 to 1978. My first trip up route 38 was last year to the Big Bear faire. I like that trip. It's longer but, depending upon traffic, can be faster and it's far more scenic.

Haha, I think you and I started whoring the Big Bear Faire out at the same time here! ^_^ Thanks for the tip on the routes up--I've never driven to Big Bear by my lonesome, so it would have really bit if I got stuck because one route was closed. Oh well; I'll be working out rides with Brad and the Criers and the Players this week anyway. Glad to know you'll be there! I'll definitely be looking for pictures at the end of the weekends!
