Wild Animal Park

Mon, July 3, 2006 - 8:42 PM

Today I continued my week off traveling adventures by heading south to San Diego Wild Animal Park. I had pre-paid for the 4 hour deluxe adventure safari, and it was a good thing that I did, as it was sold out.

If you've never done the safari, it's a wonderful experience. Today I climbed into the back of a truck with 15 other guests, a talkative guide and a driver. We drove through the four major environments of the park, seeing animals from north africa, east asia, east africa and, I believe, west africa.

As you can see from the picture, I got to feed a rhino (you like my stylish carpal tunnel wrist straps?). I also got to give some leaves to a giraffe.

This is the sixth time I've done the safari in the last eight months. It's a very nice adventure and I got some excellent photos.

I answered a couple of messages from work on my blackberry, which promoted one of the people I manage to write:

"You're on vacation... look it up. I defy you to show me in any dictionary where it says that vacation means, 'No work related duties except for monitoring emails and filing daily reports'. <LOL> Have a good vacation!"

I responded: "A quote from the 2032 edition of the encyclopedia britannica, 'vacation: a term commonly in use in the days before blackberries rendered the concept obsolete. Usage in the modern sense simply means working away from the office. Synonyms include fantasyland, dementia, and wishfull thinking.'"

darlin, what you are doing is considered a Busman's Holiday.

now that being said, consider taking a couple/few days of being offline, and give your wrists a rest? :::hugs::: not that I don't delight in your posts, but if not reading you for a couple of days means you get better, then I can suffer :) take care.
