Okay, I've heard about "Goth day" at Disneyland, and after some clever searching on the internet I found it's called "Bat day" and is an informal, non-disneyland-sponsored event that occurs once a year. Somewhere on the order of 2,000 Goth's dress up and visit the park. It sounds ... um ... intriguiing.
Now, I'm not a Goth by any means, but I think it would be fun to go to Disneyland that day and see what's it all about.
The event is described here: www.batsday.net/
Anyone interested in going? We could car pool (I'd drive).

it IS interesting. And fun. I was there last year (in full Bats Day uniform), and it was a blast!
Unfortunately, I don't get to go this year cause of Northern Faire.
Actually, a lot of people I know aren't going this year. It's the last day of blackouts, so a lot of APs don't work, and castmembers can't sign anyone in.
There's always a group picture in front of the Castle, I think around noonish. If you go, you should definitely see that. :)

I totally wanted to do it, but I can't pony up the $90 per ticket for me and the kids. ah well... have fun! It's really cool and lots of lovely people in beautiful outfits :)

Mike and I used to go. He went every year. It's the first day that the annual CA passes aren't blacked out, so that's why it's going on. Mike and I can't go 'cause we've got to teach workshops and rehearse for Northern.

The only problem is it's on Sunday, August 20th, which I believe is the last day of Big Bear Faire. I will probably go to Bat day as I will be at Big Bear for the first weekend. In fact, if you two go, I will certainly be there!!

You'll love it!!
This is going to be the 4th year in row Hamzah and I will be attending. It is great!!! This year it's 3 days long. Friday they have the Black Market and Cocktail party (tix must be bought in advance), Sat is the Black Market and the Meet and Greet and Sunday is the day at the Funpark.
There is a group photo in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle at 1pm and at 3pm there is a Baby Bats photo for kids and parents at Sword and The Stone and at 8pm is the OFFICIAL head count at the Haunted Mansion.
Although, Disneyland doesn't sponsor it, they sure do cater to it. It seems that all the villians are out in force that day and even the parasols they sell in New Orleans Square can be found with spiders and bats painted on them that day. But of course if you want a great parasol let me know. I hand paint and trim everyone I sell. So if you forget your shade you can always purchase some from me!
