Los Angeles Arboretum

Mon, May 29, 2006 - 3:53 PM

Well, it's memorial day. At work we had a "retiring of the flag" ceremony. Our flag was old and needed to be replaced. The boy scouts came by and the ceremony was ineresting. I never knew you have to go through all of this when a flag is no longer to be used...

We got out of work early so I went over to the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanical garden. This is only a few miles from my office, so it's very convenient.

I go over there as often as I can, usually half a dozen times a month or so. It's a gorgeous place.

Today, I wandered around for an hour, snapped a few pictures and felt more relaxed.

I really like the arboretum. It helps me by looking at the pretty flowers, the trees, the lake and even the old Queen's Anne's cottage (a historical monument). There is a little bit of everything here, including a huge orchard collection, a very nice herb garden (my favorate) and a rose garden.

I loaded my pictures at: www.roseworks.com/la-arboretum.htm

Sounds like you had a great time (awesome pic, too). I've never been there, but it sounds really awesome. I miss Jersey and the marshy bird sanctuaries.

Retiring the flag! Yay! I loved being in school and being in charge of putting out the flag every morning and bringing it in every afternoon.
