Anacapa Island

All right, it's been a very busy couple of weeks. We are gearing up for a major go-live at work, which is eating up a huge amount of time. I've been keeping myself very busy on my own time with traveling, updating my web sites and house cleaning.

I made it to the Los Angeles Botanical Garden once during the past two weeks. I needed to relax and the gardens are the perfect place to do so. More pictures are here.

On Saturday, May 14, I spent the day at Universal Studios. It wasn't very exciting and I think I've pretty much used up that theme park. I did get my face painted as the "Scorpion King". It was interesting taking the subway home with my face painted - I got a lot of stares. More pictures are here.

On Sunday, May 15th, I went to the Renaissance Faire yet again (the sixth day I've attended). It was hot but I still had a great time. More pictures are here and the full site with all of my renaissance faire pictures is here.

One of the participants of the faire specifically hunted me down and asked me to shoot the drama below (it's about forty pictures on my site). They were quite excited about this little skit, as it was swordfight "and it featured a woman". This was apparently highly unusual and it was very well done. The series of pictures begins here.

The following Saturday, the 21st, I went north to Ventura county and visited, for the first time, one of the Channel Islands in the Channel Island National Park. The island is called Anacapa and it's absolutely beautiful. It's nesting season for seagulls, and the island was covered with them - hundreds and hundreds of the critters. More pictures are here.

After the boat returned from Anacapa, I decided to visit the "Butterflies Alive!" display in the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum. I visited this last year, and it's even better now. I'd highly recommend a trip to this large tent filled with over a thousand butterflies. The exhibit runs through the end of September. More pictures are here.

On Sunday I spent the day at the Renaissance Faire again. This was the last day of the faire for this year. It was hot, dusty and loads of fun. More pictures are here.
